I have enjoyed handcrafts and stitching from childhood and first became fascinated in patchwork after receiving a present of Averil Colby’s patchwork book for my 12th birthday. Later I found piecing over papers soothing to do during quiet moments when on duty as a junior doctor, training in anaesthesia. I only discovered “quilting” when I made a pram cover for my first baby, joining classes , my local group Poldrate Quilters ,and the Quilters Guild in 1987. Wishing to learn more about design I enrolled in City and Guilds courses and completed parts1 and 2 in Creative Textiles in 2002. I now really enjoy dyeing and painting fabrics and love the texture of hand quilting and embroidery. Whilst striving to produce my own designs and original textile pieces I also take inspiration from traditional geometric patterns. Currently I am enjoying the challenge of making pieces for exhibition.
